Dear Copenhagen
Goodbyes are never easy. But I wonder why they must always be this hard.
You’ve always known how much I needed to be here. Now you know how grateful I am to be here; and that leaving you for the second time is no easier than the first. I look at the expectant faces around me – mostly Danes travelling outbound – and wish I belonged here. Your insouciant outlook on life has percolated through my very psyche and you have taught me much about the importance of living Danishly.
So as the rest of Europe heralds a new dawn, allow me to reminisce on the last sunset.
Farvel. Until we meet again.

Dear lovely Readers, thank you for following my journey, and wishing you abundant revelations in your own future travels.
I love all your photos of Copenhagen, they’re so beautiful!! I’m going on holiday there in a few days and this made me so excited! Looking forward to seeing more of your travels in photos 🙂
Thank you Emma, I really appreciate your feedback. Denmark is a photogenic country and I’m sure it will be spectacular in the fall. Likewise, look forward to yours. 😊
What a lovely goodbye. I was in Denmark for a week some 20 years ago. I was covering a students’ trip for a newspaper. We visited many high schools in Aarhus, Vy and Copenhagen. In the capital I met a most intriguing writer from Ireland. We corresponded for years but never met again.
Happy further wanderings and wonderings!
Thank you for sharing your story Manja. I’m yet to visit Aarhus, but will make it an imperative to do so next time.
It is amazing how so much of our nostalgia for a place is due to the people (or a person). For me, going back to a place is not because I expect to see them again, but that I want to experience again the sensation it once bestowed upon me. I hope you feel you can reach out to them again, it would be such a shame otherwise. 🙂
Correction: I meant Ry, not Vy. 🙂 It’s been a while… And no, sadly, no connection remains. He was much older than me.
That is so unfortunate!
Thank you for a romantic tour through country my wife and I are visiting in the fall. Beautiful images.
My absolute pleasure!! You will have a wonderful time visiting this fairytale country. I look forward to seeing your pictures too! 🙂
Loved it and I too found saying to goodbye to Copenhagen very hard
It is an almost indescribable feeling to want to call somewhere home but couldn’t… Having said that we all need to appreciate what we already have, and Sydney is pretty awesome too. Thanks so much for your feedback and companionship. 😊
Lovely picture today! I wish you safe travels and sincere thanks for sharing your journey!! 😃
Much appreciate your follow!! It is a pleasure to have had your company. 🙂
Beautiful picture!
